Leadership in TSA

Dan has been a member for 4 years and an officer for 2, but his passion for TSA has always been constant. Now that he is president, it's hard to do as many competitions, but he loves Chapter Team, Technology Problem Solving, and is excited to compete in the new Coding event. For fun, Dan enjoys playing video games and programming, especially in UIL Computer Science.

The duties vested in this office are to:

• Preside at regular and special meetings of the organization
• Promote cooperation in carrying out the activities and work of our organization
• Preside at and conduct meetings according to parliamentary procedure
• Appoint committees and serve as ex-officer member of each except the executive committee
• Keep the meetings moving at an interesting pace
• Call upon other officers to take the chair when necessary or desirable
• Keep association activities progressing in a satisfactory manner
• Represent the association in outside activities
• Serve as a member of the Technology Students Association Board of Directors or appoint a member from the executive committee to fulfill that duty

Since joining TSA her freshman year, Victoria has gotten extremely involved in the organization. As a senior, she currently serves as Chapter Vice President, but has served as Treasurer and Secretary in years past. Her favorite competition is Chapter Team. Outside of TSA, she is also involved in NHS, UIL, and TAFE. In her spare time, Victoria enjoys reading, watching television, and being physically active.

It is the duty of this office to:

• See that we always have a strong membership, a good work program, and are alert to the welfare of our organization
• Assist the president
• Serve as president in the absence of the president
• Succeed the president in case of vacancy
• Serve as chairperson of the membership and program committee
• Meet with and be responsible for all committees

Matthew is a sophomore, and he is currently BETA TSA's Secretary. He has been an officer for two years, serving as a Freshman Officer last year. His favorite competition is Video Game Design, and he enjoys all of the service opportunities within TSA. Outside of the organization, Matthew has a passion for Sci-fi movies and television shows.

It is the responsibility of this office to:

• See that accurate and proper records are kept of all business and correspondence of this association
• Prepare and read the minutes of each meeting
• Count and record member votes
• Read correspondence and communications at meetings
• Keep association permanent records
• Post notices to members pertaining to association activities and send invitations to guests
• Be responsible for association correspondence
• Call the meetings to order in the absence of a presiding officer

Larah is a freshman in her first year as a TSA member. She is serving as Chapter Co-Treasurer with Cristian, and she is currently competing in SciVis. Her favorite part about TSA, however, is not the competition; she will never forget the leadership opportunities provided to her by TSA, including attending the State Leadership Conference this past December. In her free time, she plays the violin and is an active member in For The Kids (FTK).

Duties of the Office of Treasurer

It is the duty of this office to:

• Keep accurate records of all funds
• See that our financial obligations are met promptly
• Report all financial standings at each meeting
• Keep an accurate record of receipts and payments
• Obtain and present ideas and suggestions for increasing the treasury and financing activities

As a freshman, Cristian's time in TSA has been short (it's only his first year!). However, serving as Chapter Co-Treasurer has been an experience he'll never forget. He is competing this year in Photographic Technology and Technology Problem Solving, and hopes to compete even more in years to come. Cristian enjoys drawing, collecting shoes, and playing video games in his free time.

Antonio is the only junior on the team, and he currently serves as the Chapter Reporter. For the past three years, he has taken part in the VEX Robotics and Promotional Design competitions, but his favorite competition is Animatronics. Antonio has been a vegan for the past few years with a passion for animal rights, but he also has a passion for coding and robotics that pushes him to be more involved in TSA.

Duties of the Office of Reporter

It is the duty of this office to:

• See that our school, community, and state have a complete report of our organization's activities
• Prepare articles for publication
• Contact members to obtain news regarding the association
• Contact personnel in charge of other publications and provide copy conforming to their requests
• Act as historian of the association by keeping organization publications archive
• Assist with planning and arranging organization exhibits
• Act as editor of association publications with the responsibility of developing and publishing

Breana Moreno is a senior and has been a TSA member for 2 years. This year is her first year holding an office, Sergeant-at-Arms. Her favorite part of BETA TSA is the STPA Committee, where members can go to a nearby middle school to help their chapter's members. She loves running and playing video games, and one of her true passions is community service, as she has over 100 hours recorded at a local hospital.

Duties of the Office of Sergeant-at-Arms

It is the responsibility of this office to:

• See that the assembly is comfortable and properly welcomed
• Serve as doorkeeper for this organization
• Serve as parliamentarian for the association (Needs a current copy of Robert's Rules of Order, newly revised)
• Arrange meeting rooms and care for association paraphernalia
• Be responsible for the comfort of those present at all meetings
• Assist officer candidates prior to and during elections
• Arrange entertainment, refreshments, and other details related to meeting programs
• Serve as chairperson of the welfare committee

Jefferson has been a TSA member for 6 years, first joining as a seventh grader, and he is honored to say that he is the 2016-2017 Texas TSA Vice President. He has competed in Essays on Technology, Debate, and Webmaster, but his favorite event is Chapter Team. Outside of TSA, he loves playing with his two dogs and reading a good book.

This is currently Sydney's fifth year in TSA and she is grateful to be currently serving as the Texas TSA State Reporter. Her favorite competitions are Chapter Team and Promotional Designs. Outside of TSA, she competes in UIL Journalism and is an IB Diploma Candidate.
